Evaluation for an Equitable Society

Independence, Partnership, Participation

As in past years, the EES Conference will bring together evaluators from all over Europe and beyond to engage in reflection and debate about the role of evaluation in a changing world. Is the evaluation community equipped to take on the diverse, unprecedented and interconnected challenges of economic disparities, social unrest and governance dysfunctions? These are among the questions to be explored through keynote speeches, paper presentations, panel debates and posters at the Eleventh EES Biennial Conference to take place in Dublin (Ireland) on October 1-3, 2014 (with preconference workshops on September 29-30, 2014. Once again, this will be the evaluation event of the year. We look forward to welcoming you in Dublin.

EES Presidential Message

Dear colleagues and friends,

The forthcoming 11th Biennial Conference in Dublin will again provide your Society with an opportunity to forge closer relationships within the evaluation community and foster a wide ranging debate about the future of evaluation. In this context the annual meeting of the Network of Evaluation Societies in Europe will be held on Conference premises and it will explore ways of building closer cross border linkages among thematic working groups.

Beyond Europe, evaluation associations, networks and initiatives from all corners of the world will be present in Dublin. This will include the International Organization for Cooperation in Evaluation. Accordingly I expect a fulsome exchange of views about the outcomes expected from the 2015 Year of Evaluation.  The Conference will also host sessions focused on the role of parliamentarians in promoting a favourable enabling environment for evaluation in diverse country contexts. Finally our Conference will build bridges of transatlantic cooperation with American evaluators: the Faster Forward Fund (3F) sponsored by Michael Scriven will be launched in Dublin.

All in all, I am confident that the EES 11th Biennial Conference will bring evaluation commissioners, managers and practitioners from Europe and beyond much closer together and that it will mark a milestone on the road towards a more relevant and influential evaluation discipline that serves the public interest and contributes to a better world.
